Former Tour winner and Golf Channel expert Chamblee has been the catalyst over the past few years.
Phil Mickelson found himself embroiled in an intense argument concerning LIV Golf and the PGA Tour between Anthony Kim and Brandel Chamblee.
However, it was Kim who chose to target Chamblee this week, calling the 61-year-old a “p—-” for pleading with the North American circuit to reach an agreement with the Saudi sponsors of the breakaway tour.
Given that Chamblee had previously demanded that Mickelson be excluded from the golf Hall of Fame due to his intimate ties to the Saudi Arabian government, his remarks signified a radical about face.
After finishing last on the PGA Tour in 2012, Kim went more than ten years without playing professional golf before joining LIV in February.
Upon his return, he revealed his battle with addiction and, worrisomely, stated that medical professionals had informed him that his life would not be prolonged unless he made drastic changes.
The golfer has frequently acknowledged that his daughter Bella and wife Emily have kept him on the straight and narrow.
Now that he’s voiced his opinion, Mickelson says that the men’s professional golf game is finally being resolved.
“Fixing the problem takes time but it’s better than waiting for it to collapse entirely,” he wrote.
