Payton Pritchard grabbed the ball from Julian Champagnie with just over a minute remaining in the first half of the Boston Celtics’ victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, following a block by Jaylen Brown.

Pritchard accelerated the pace right away, finding Brown, who was already in the halfcourt area, on the break. With just Devin Vassell to beat, Brown charged forward, but instead of driving to the hoop, he looked back and noticed Pritchard in tow.

Why Jaylen Brown, Celtics are emphasizing defense at start of training camp

With a 19-point lead, Brown chose to inject some flair into the play by passing to Pritchard behind the back. Sadly, he missed the mark by a wide margin, and Jeremy Sochan was the one who caught the ball.

A little more than a quarter of an hour later, Brown was in a similar position—he was running alongside a player and on the break following a turnover. After intercepting Victor Wembanyama’s throw, Brown got another opportunity to spice up the play.

This time, he hit Oshae Brissett with a between-the-legs pass that went in, setting up two points at the rim.

Brown turned to the Celtics bench and gestured right away after the dime.

Brown clarified, “They were giving me s*** for my behind-the-back pass in the first half.” “I was searching for Payton on the back, but at times, he would run so quickly, and I simply misjudged it, which led to them giving me a hard time.” After I won that one, they continued to give me [s***]. That’s what that was, though.

Who, though, was most clowning Brown.
