EFL Championships: Super Eagles duo spark Leicester promotion hopes after……

Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho found the back of the net in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Stoke City, helping them to the best-ever start by a team in the Championship, Soccernet.ng reports.

The striker repaid his manager’s faith at the King Power Stadium, sending his team into the lead in the 25th minute. Maresca’s patient build-up play was evident as the Foxes cut through the Potters’ defence.

In-form Leicester midfielder, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall found Ricardo Pereira just outside the box. The Portuguese right-back played the perfect through-ball to find Iheanacho, and the Super Eagles talisman wasted no time in putting the ball into the back of the net.

The 27-year-old played 77 minutes before Maresca called on Jamie Vardy to replace him, with Wilfred Ndidi coming on as well. The two substitutes combined for the eventual second goal to seal all three points for the Foxes.

Maresca’s men have thirty points from their first eleven games, a Sky Bet Championships record, and the Italian continues to shape and propel his club towards top-flight football.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi of the Super Eagles will travel to Faro, Portugal, to join the rest of the Nigerian team for their training camp ahead of friendlies against Mozambique and Saudi Arabia.
