Coventry City fans have been left reeling by Callum O’Hare’s injury at Sheffield United on Boxing Day.
The 24-year-old went down clutching his right knee in the first two minutes of the game. He fell to the deck after trying to control a ball that was dropping down from a clearance.
O’Hare attempted to get up and carry on but almost immediately went down on the pitch as the referee brought play to a halt to allow a physio to treat the player. After three or four minutes assessing the attacking midfielder, the medics signalled for the stretcher and he was carried off, replaced by Kasey Palmer.
Sky Blues supporters are now praying the attacker has not sustained a serious injury. He has already missed a significant part of the season due to injury and another lengthy period on the sidelines would put a huge dent in the club’s prospects of making the top six and qualifying for the Championship play-offs.
On a bad afternoon for the Sky Blues, they also missed a penalty at Bramall Lane on the way to a 3-1 defeat.
Here is how City fans reacted to news of O’Hare’s injury on Twitter…
Tom: Losing Callum O’Hare after two minutes was a disaster, then the missed pen changed the game. We battled hard especially near the end but Sheffield United had more quality about them.
