DONE DEAL : Norwich City complete signing of a skillful player

Norwich City have completed the signing of defender Emmanuel Adegboyega from Drogheda United.

The Dundalk-born defender has signed a long-term deal with the Canaries, and will initially form part of the club’s development and academy setup.

Adegboyega has featured regularly for Drogheda in the League of Ireland Premier Division during the 2023 season, making 22 appearances.

The 19-year-old signed his first professional deal with the Drogs earlier in the summer, having previously played for Dundalk at Under-19 level.

Discussing his move to Carrow Road, Adegboyega said: “I’m over the moon to sign for Norwich. It’s always good when a big club like this approaches you.

“When you see people from the same country [in the first-team], it makes that decision so much easier. Seeing what they’re doing in the first-team, it was an easy decision.

“Playing senior football has helped me a lot. The physicality level changed from academy level to first-team level, it’s obviously a big jump. But playing in the League of Ireland definitely helped me.”Lessons to learn from Louth derby loss says Drogheda United's Emmanuel Adegboyega | Independent.ie
