Can the Pittsburgh Steelers improve upon their 2023 season, which was only moderately successful?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are primed and ready to compete in 2024 after an insanely busy off-season that included trading away former first-round pick Kenny Pickett, trading for another former first-round pick, Justin Fields, and signing Russell Wilson, a likely future Hall of Famer, to a veteran’s minimum deal.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to trade picks 20 and 84 to the Seattle Seahawks in order to move up to choice number 16, where they would be selecting Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham, according to ESPN’s most recent estimates for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Round 1, Pick 16 (via Seattle trade): Alabama’s JC Latham, OT

After assuming the starting right tackle position in Week 9, Jones displayed a lot of promise, but his best projection may be on the left side. By moving Jones to left tackle, selecting Latham in the draft, and upgrading from Dan Moore Jr., the Steelers would have two excellent offensive line bookends. Latham is a physically strong blocker who creates movement easily at the point of attack, which makes him a perfect fit for the Pittsburgh offence as well.

Round 2, Pick 51: Michigan’s Roman Wilson, wide receiver

Although George Pickens is the Steelers’ top receiver, there is clearly a dearth of depth on the outside. Wilson may become the No. 2 player very quickly. His 12 touchdown receptions in 2023 tied for ninth in the nation, and he averaged 16 yards per catch during his four years in college.

Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, C., Georgia, Pick 98 in Round 3

“To me, Van Pran-Granger shouts Pittsburgh Steeler. He is a picture of consistency in the centre position, wide-bodied and astute.

After the first three rounds, the Pittsburgh Steelers only have picks in rounds four and six. Based on those final three selections, ESPN projects Mike Tomlin and colleagues to select Troy EDGE rusher Javon Solomon (195), Florida State defensive tackle Fabien Lovett Sr. (178), and Auburn cornerback DJ James (119).
