SAD NEWS: Back to back potential sharp shooter is………

After three seasons at Illinois, perimeter threat Luke Goode intends to move, leaving the Fighting Illini with three players from their Elite Eight roster still available. Goode said he is registering on the transfer portal as a graduate transfer, having completed his business degree in three years. It was reported that he might be going to Indiana, a rival school. “Three years, two championships, and one degree,” Goode wrote in a Monday social media message. “The University of Illinois has provided endless opportunities for myself and my family, and I am forever grateful.”

Goode started seven of Illinois’ 38 games last season and finished with a 38.9 percent 3-point shooting percentage. Due to a foot injury sustained during the preseason, he missed the first half of his sophomore season. Two guards and assistant coach Chester Frazier left Illinois for West Virginia, where he was joined in Morgantown by lightning-fast defensive stopper Sencire Harris and Amani Hansberry. Dain Dainja, a big man, moved to Memphis.

That leaves Ty Rodgers as the primary returnee for Illinois along with Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn and backup point guard Nico Moretti, who was not consistently part of head coach Brad Underwood’s rotation.

The Fighting Illini won 29 games last season but bowed out of the NCAA Tournament in the regional semifinal in Boston against eventual national champion UConn.

The new class of Underwood recruits has drawn great reviews, and among them is 6-10 forward Morez Johnson, the reigning Illinois Mr. Basketball. A number of transfers, led by point guard Kylan Boswell (Arizona), committed to Illinois as well. It’s still possible that two of Illinois’ starters return in 2024–25. EverybodyBig Ten forward Marcus Domask filed a petition with the NCAA requesting a sixth season of eligibility under the medical hardship waiver, and forward Coleman Hawkins still has one year left under the NCAA’s COVID hardship standards.
