Gallagher is “definitely” departing Stamford Bridge in the off-season, according to Football Insider, which broke the news on April 2. The Blues are trying to raise money to stave off a possible Premier League fine.

Football Insider has received information from sources that Newcastle United is considering making another attempt to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer.

After recent talks broke down, the 24-year-old will only have 12 months left on his contract in June and has no chance of keeping his Chelsea contract.

Since he is a homegrown player, selling him this summer will bring in a tidy profit for the Londoners’ books.

Newcastle attempted to sign the midfield player to St James’ Park last year (2023) and has a long-term interest in him.

Gallagher was eager to secure a starting position at his boyhood club at the moment, thus he turned down a move away from Chelsea.

However, a slew of expensive new players have since arrived at Stamford Bridge, and he will most likely be let go during the off-season.

Tottenham is also interested in signing the England international; Football Insider reported last month (March 24) that Spurs want to submit an opening offer for the player in the range of £30-£40 million.

This season, Gallagher has made 43 appearances in all competitions, 39 of which have come from the starting lineup.

Since the Argentine’s arrival, he has consistently worn the captain’s armband for Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

With 129 Premier League outings under his belt, the Epsom-born player has 16 goals and 12 assists.
