Birmingham City have re-signed former midfielder Remi Allen following her release by Aston Villa at the end of last season.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this afternoon.
Allen has signed a two-year deal at St Andrew’s. She returns to the club where she previously played her football between 2014 and 2016.
The midfielder has spent the last two seasons with Birmingham City’s Second City neighbours Aston Villa. Allen made a positive contribution for The Villans, although her time in claret and blue was dominated by an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
Allen made her comeback from injury towards the end of last season and it could be argued that she was unlucky not to secure an extended stay with Aston Villa. The midfielder could still do a job in the top flight but she will now drop into the Barclays Women’s Championship to help St Andrew’ fight for promotion.
After sealing her Birmingham City return, Allen said “I’m extremely excited. It’s been a long time since I was here, so it is nice to be back in the building. There is still a familiar feeling for me here, I’m loving it.
“I always had a feeling that one day I would come back. The Club have been brilliant, and talking with Carts (Darren Carter) and what he sees for me, I think we are the perfect fit as a collective.”
Allen is Birmingham City’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
