Zac Lomax has been released from the final two seasons of his contract with the St George Illawarra Dragons and is expected to receive an offer from the Parramatta Eels later this week.

Lomax, who is in contention for a NSW Blues shirt after a strong start to the season, has been granted clearance to negotiate with rival teams for the 2025 season.

After meeting with Brad Arthur and the Parramatta Eels, the club has emerged as the leader for his signature and is set to offer him a three-year contract.

However, it is understood that the contract will result in Lomax taking a hefty pay cut, reducing his annual compensation from $850,000 to about $650,000-$700,000 per season.

“Zac Lomax will be tabled an offer from Parramatta this week,” senior sports writer Neil Breen said on 2GB.

“The issue for Lomax is that it will be a three-year deal, with each year costing approximately $150,000 to

The blue and gold team has the finances in their wage cap to sign him, and he would easily fit into the centres alongside Will Penisini.

This would provide a strong backline for Clinton Gutherson, Maika Sivo, Penisini, Lomax, Sean Russell, Dylan Brown, and Mitchell Moses when the latter returns from injury.

However, Lomax’s income has decreased because Moses earns nearly $1 million per season, while Clinton Gutherson and Junior Paulo earn upwards of $900,000 per year on their current contracts.

Since his début against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, he’s played 98 NRL matches and earned 683 points (39 tries, 263 goals, and one field goal).

“I met with Zac at my home,” Eels coach Brad Arthur recently told the Herald.

“We have genuine interest and want to improve our squad. We always said we lacked an outside back. He’s out of contract for 25.”
