Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Reds announce new deal for midfielder

Young midfielder Oli Hammond has put pen to paper on a new deal with Nottingham Forest.

The 20-year-old, who was an unused substitute in the friendly win over Notts County on Saturday, has signed a new one-year contract. The Reds hold an option to extend those terms by a further 12 months

Hammond made his first-team debut in August 2021, when Chris Hughton was still in charge. He was included in the starting line-up of a 4-0 EFL Cup defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Wales Under-21 international was involved in two Carabao Cup ties last term under Steve Cooper. He came off the bench against Grimsby Town and against Manchester United at Old Trafford

The 2022/23 campaign was most notable for the key role he played for Forest Under-21s, however. Hammond, who joined the Nigel Doughty Academy aged eight, scored six goals and weighed in with five assists as the team reached the Premier League 2 Division 2 play-offs, wearing the captain’s armband in the final.

Last month, three players signed for the academy. Striker Manni Norkett and goalkeepers Harry Griffiths and Will Brook all agreed deals ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.Nottingham Forest youngster signs new contract - Nottinghamshire Live

This summer also saw the club put on a special event to mark a number of second and third-year scholars signing their first professional contracts. Josh Powell, Jack Nadin, Aaron Bott, Joe Gardner, Justin Hanks, Sam Collins, Jack Thompson, Ben Perry, Jimmy Sinclair and Kyle McAdam all penned pro deals. Meanwhile, James Clarridge signed a new contract extension with the club.
