Maxx Crosby, a pass rusher for the Las Vegas Raiders and Pro Bowler, gave an explanation of his decision to play in Sunday’s home game against the 6-6 Minnesota Vikings despite a nagging knee ailment on Friday’s episode of NFL+’s “The Insiders” show.
According to Kevin Patra of the NFL website, Crosby stated, “If I’m able and have a heartbeat, I’m going to be out there with my brothers and try to go get a win.”
Despite being labeled as doubtful for the game, Crosby participated in the 31-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on November 26 that preceded Las Vegas’ bye. After losing, he disclosed that he fought through “some infections” and even spent some time in the hospital before
“It was — like I said, it was probably one of the hardest things I’ve been through,” said Crosby. “I have experienced a great deal of hardship in my life. Yes, it was up there. In the end, it’s merely a blessing. I find the good in everything, thus everything has a purpose. I persevered through the week’s highs and lows, including spending time in the hospital.”
Despite being just “like 60 percent” healthy, according to Crosby, he managed to record a sack in the Chiefs game. With 11.5 sacks this season, he is tied for sixth in the NFL going into the weekend, according to ESPN data.
The ESPN Football Power Index assigned the 5-7 Raiders a 0.9% chance to qualify for the postseason as of early Friday night. That’s motivation enough for Crosby to suit up against Minnesota as long as he’s medically cleared.
During the program part, Crosby stated, “I’m going to do it if I can go out there and impact the game any way I can to help my guys.” I’m eager for this final month since I’ve had these two weeks to straighten out my body, refocus, and reenergize. I’ll be out there practicing since I’m feeling fantastic right now. I am very excited to go outside with the boys.”
