Nottingham Forest have begun contract negotiations with a ‘great’ player. 25-year-old

Yates, 25, has been out of the team lately. The player hasn’t started a game since the win over Chelsea back in September, with Steve Cooper preferring other options.

Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez have both been regulars in the team since their deadline day arrivals. Alongside them, the head coach has gone with Orel Mangala and he’s kicked on.

The Reds still value the input of Yates and appreciate what the player brings to the squad. According to The Athletic, Forest have already instigated talks and what the player to stay.

Yates has fought a constant battle to impress supporters since he came into the fold. To this day, he divides the fan base, with half buzzing when he gets minutes and the other wondering what he offers the team.

One thing that can’t be denied is the player’s commitment to the cause. Forest have always got maximum effort from Yates and that hasn’t gone unnoticed in the eyes of Cooper.

The midfielder’s current contract runs until 2025 at the moment. With that in mind, there are no really pressing concerns for Forest to get Yates tied down to anything.

The player is a quality squad player even if he hasn’t played much of late. Jamie Carragher is a huge fan and last season he called him ‘fantastic’ for his performance in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Yates might not have played much for Forest of late but he remains a player who can do a job if called upon. Under Cooper’s watch, he has kicked his career to a new level and perhaps an extension is deserved.
