Ruo Patricio is conscious and “remembers what happened” following his horrific injury against Liverpool on Monday. Following the 1-0 loss at Molineux, Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo delivered an update on the custodian.

Patrico clashed with Wolves team-mate Conor Coady late on in the match.

Sky Sports refused to show replays of the incident due to its severity.

Patricio received treatment for around 13 minutes and was given oxygen before he was stretchered off and replaced by John Ruddy.

Nuno says the Portugal international is OK despite initial concerns.

“We just had an update now,” Nuno told Sky Sports.

“He’s OK, he’s conscious, he remembers what happens. The doctor tells us he’s OK.

“It was a collision with Coady, I think the knee of Coady on the head, but he’s OK. We’ve spoken already and thank god he’s OK

“All these situations, when it’s a concussion in the head, gets all of us worried. But he’s OK and he’s going to recover.”

“It was an awful situation,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said of the event.

“I’ve spoken with Wolves staff, and they’re upbeat.” It was a real shock.”
Former England and West Ham goalkeeper Rob Green provided his reaction to the injury as it occurred.

“Even if it was the impact on the head, the whiplash through the neck and the damage that can be done can be quite great,” Green remarked on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“They need to make sure his well-being is taken care of before moving him.”
