Rangers target BK Hacken player Benie Traore has agreed a deal with Premier League club Sheffield United, according to Sportbladet.
The 20-year-old centre-forward scored 15 goals from his 20 appearances in all competitions for the Swedish club last season.
And the youngster is now closing in on a SEK 53million (£4million) move to the newly-promoted Blades, noted Sportbladet.
“Benie Traore is very close to a move to the Premier League and Sheffield United,” as per Sportbladet. “According to Sportbladet’s information, BK Hacken has agreed on a transfer fee with the Premier League club – as the parties verbally agree on a price tag of SEK 53million.
“If nothing unforeseen happens, the deal is expected to be presented within the next few weeks.”
The publication added that Scottish duo Rangers and Celtic have “been in the picture” for his signature this summer.
Rangers look set to have missed out on a deal for Traore, who could have undoubtedly done a job for Michael Beale next season.
The Gers boss has already strengthened in this area through the signatures of Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers this summer, but is perhaps in the market for further attacking players after the departures of the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.
Last season’s loan star Malik Tillman has also moved back to Bayern Munich, leaving Beale with a real job on his hands in finding suitable replacements in the final third.
And the Scottish giants could definitely do a lot worse than young star Traore, who is perhaps capable of lighting up the Premier League following his goalscoring heroics in Sweden last time out.
Beale may yet add new faces going forward, but it seems he must now look elsewhere than Traore in the coming weeks.
In other Rangers news, one Gers star has sent a one-word message to a player after a big-money Premier League development was confirmed.
