The Toffees captain has been out with a knee injury since the end of last season, although it wasn’t an ACL rupture that would’ve kept him out for longer.

Sean Dyche said on 5 October that he was close to returning to full training so it seems unlikely that he’ll be fit on 21 October.

Brar, a physical therapist and sports scientist, told Goodison News exclusively about his situation:

“Coleman has returned to working with the physios on the grass, but he is still not participating in team training.”

Depending on how he responds, you might see him in partial team training over the break.

He almost assuredly won’t play vs Liverpool due to the amount of time he’s been out and not having any bounce matches.

Coleman has not yet returned to training as there are no reports or official confirmation from the club stating otherwise.

Ashley Young and Nathan Patterson have been playing at right-back and it seems unlikely that Coleman will come right into the eleven.

The Toffees will ease him back and perhaps make him play a few games for the reserves in order to work on his match fitness.

Given the fact that he’s in his mid 30s, his risk of reinjury certainly increases and it’s important to ease him back into action.

In other Everton news, a condition has now emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked amid trouble behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
