Bradford City were the authors of their own demise as they were defeated 3-1 at home by Walsall.

Andy Cook started the score from the penalty spot, but Walsall rallied to overcome the deficit. Liam Gordon equalized before Aramide Oteh and Freddie Draper both scored from corners to give the visitors the win.

Bradford had plenty of early possession but couldn’t get Owen Evans to operate between the posts for Walsall.

A Jamie Walker cross almost missed Cook, and Matty Platt headed wide from a corner, but genuine chances were scarce.

The hosts, on the other hand, got one handed to them when Rayhaan Tulloch was brought down in the box during a quick counter-attack.

The referee pointed to the spot without hesitation, allowing Cook to smash home from 12 yards.

Bradford led for three minutes before Walsall responded immediately through Liam Gordon.

The defender was given much too much room to cut in from the left and curled into the bottom corner with exquisite accuracy.

Clarke Oduor saw a shot deflected away from goal after a quick dash into the box, and neither side appeared pleased heading into the interval.

Walsall, however, took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Oteh prodded home from a corner.

Draper capitalized on indecision in the Bantams box to head home after Ross Tierney lifted the ball into the box.

Bradford went in quest of an answer, but Walsall were difficult to break down as the Saddlers sat further into their own half.

Cook blasted into a sea of bodies from right inside the box, and Evans comfortably handled Kevin McDonald’s ambitious effort.

Walsall controlled the game in the closing minutes, staying organized and successfully aggravating the hosts.

As the final whistle came, a tangible sense of displeasure pervaded the home crowd.
