Hamza Choudhury has signed a new long-term contract with Leicester City, committing his future to the club. Choudhury has agreed to a four-year contract extension through the summer of 2027. The midfielder was nearing the end of his previous deal at the King Power Stadium.

After progressing through the City development system, the Loughborough-born player has gone on to make 91 first-team appearances for the club, including a late cameo from the bench in the Foxes’ FA Cup final win over Chelsea in 2021, as the club captured the trophy for the first time in its history. He played the season on loan with Watford in the Championship, appearing 37 times for the Hornets.

Choudhury – who has also been on loan

Choudhury, who spent time on loan at Burton Albion earlier in his career, has appeared seven times for Enzo Maresca’s side this season, including his first league start in the 2-0 win over Norwich City last week. The former England Under-21 international came off the bench in Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Bristol City.

TEAMtalk revealed earlier this month that a number of clubs were keeping an eye on Choudhury’s status at Leicester – but the 25-year-old now appears likely to stay and compete for a spot with his hometown club. He has started in both Carabao Cup rounds this season and might make his senior debut against Liverpool in the third round fixture at Anfield tonight (Wednesday), having made his senior debut against the Reds in the same tournament back in 2017.
