Rangers suffer fresh injury blow as another first-team star ruled out for six weeks

Rabbi Matondo’s knee injury has added to the Rangers’ injury difficulties, as the winger has been ruled out for the next six weeks.

The Wales international walked off during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Motherwell at Ibrox after collapsing unchallenged and will now be out until November.

The 23-year-old joins a growing injury list at Rangers, with Neil Banfield and Danilo out until after the October international break, and Todd Cantwell hoping to return early next month after missing the last three games with a knee injury sustained in the Old Firm defeat to Celtic on September 3.

“Rabbi (Matondo) looks like he’s been out for six weeks with his knee,” Rangers first-team coach Neil Banfield remarked at the pre-match news conference before of Wednesday’s Viaplay Cup quarter-final showdown against Livingston at Ibrox.

“Despite the injuries, we know we have a strong squad, and it is up to the players to step up and help us get to Hampden Park.” We’ve assembled this squad and will be ready to travel the next day.”

Despite the win over Motherwell, Rangers were booed off by their own fans, with many fans dissatisfied with the performance, and Beale was as harsh on his players after the game.Rabbi Matondo joins Glasgow Rangers - Fußball

“At such a big club as Rangers, we expect scrutiny,” Banfield remarked. “There will always be bumps in the road, but it is up to us to keep pushing and preparing the team.”

“It is a three-game week and we need to be ready and prepared for the next match.”
