Wolves have a potential new crowd favorite in Jean-Ricner Bellegarde on their hands – and it’s now being reported that the club actually want to re-sign the contract in January.
The Frenchman made his debut against Liverpool at Molineux on Saturday.
Wolves eventually lost 1-3 after taking the lead through Hwang Hee-chan
Despite the loss, some Wolves stars played well, including rookie Bellegarde.
The 25-year-old played really confidently and advanced whenever possible.
He has combined well with another player who really stands out, Pedro Neto, and fans are excited to see more of him.
Bellegarde was Wolves’ final signing of the summer for just under £13 million. But he could actually have joined the club sooner if not for his untimely injury.
The Athletic reported this morning that Wanderers were indeed considering signing Bellegarde during the January transfer window.
He has attracted the attention of Strasbourg and Wolves have shown interest.
But in fact Bellegarde suffered an ankle injury in the Ligue 1 match against Lyon on January 14.
Wolves apparently even made an initial offer for Bellegarde.
But the talks were later called off due to players’ frustration. Bellegarde would then have to sit on the bench for the next 2 months and miss 8 matches in Ligue 1.
Bellegarde has finally arrived – and he looks like a player
This is an interesting statement regarding Wolves’ latest signing.
Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter that the Wolves didn’t sign Bellegarde
in January.
Because the club recruited Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes and eventually avoided relegation.
But fortunately, Wolves were still interested in Bellegarde and hunted him on transfer deadline day. His debut against Liverpool was really promising
He appears to be a well-rounded player and another excellent running back.
