Wrexham, whose nickname used to be The Robins before changing it to the Red Dragons, were football’s top team to watch in the opening month of the season, scoring the most and conceding the most.

But it’s another Robins’ outfit – Swindon Town – who now boast top spot in the goalscoring stakes as last Saturday’s 5-3 win at home to Sutton United took their League Two tally to 20 in six games.

Five of those came in the 10-goal thriller at The STóK Cae Ras last month.

League Two’s player of the month Jake Young (pictured above) bagged a double in that game and is now League Two’s top scorer with nine goals – three more than Wrexham’s Elliot Lee and Mansfield’s former Reds winger, Davis Keillor-Dunn.

The second highest scorer is Newport County’s Welsh C international and former Bala Town midfielder Will Evans.

And his seven-goal return should be enough to earn him a call-up to Rob Page’s national side according to Exiles boss, Graham Coughlan.

“Will Evans should have been in the Welsh squad,” Coughlan, who wasn’t impressed with Wales’ goal-less draw with South Korea last week, told BBC Sport Wales.

“I watched Wales and I just don’t know what people are seeing, what people are thinking.

“For him not to pick up the League Two player of the month is laughable.

“I’d have to question who the panel are, what they’re looking at and why he hasn’t won it.

“But I wouldn’t hold much attention to what these so-called experts do or say.

The out-of-favour left-back has been named in the Blues’ official squad submitted to the Football League.

Had he been left off the 18-man list, Hume wouldn’t have been able to feature for Pompey until at least January.

As it is, he joins John Mousinho’s first-team members in being listed, thereby remaining eligible for selection, should the Blues desire it.
