Celtic expert drops ‘big’ Joe Hart claim after what he spotted
Celtic do not need to sign a replacement for Joe Hart in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie said Hart is a “big” player for the club and further proved that in the win over Rangers last weekend (3 September).
During the summer transfer window, the Celts were actively searching for a new custodian and were frequently linked to Croatian custodian Dominik Livakovic, who ultimately signed for Fenerbahce.
Long-serving shot stopper Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist, who came from Dundee United last summer, are Brendan Rodgers’ second and third choices in goal.
Bain played for the Celts just once last season, while Siegrist has only made two appearances since joining the team last year.
When questioned by Football Insider if Rodgers would continue using Hart for the remainder of the 2023–24 season in the absence of a successor, McAvennie responded, “I suppose so.
There is no denying that he is a top custodian; he has just demonstrated it once more.
huge players step up. Joe Hart stepped up and made some spectacular saves in that huge game over the weekend. He is a kind guy who cares about the fans a lot, and it is brilliant that he can still make saves like that.
Hart has appeared 109 times for the Hoops in all competitions since his arrival in the summer of 2021.
In those games, the former England international has allowed 99 goals while maintaining 48 clean sheets.
