Prior to Ibrox, injured Celtic teammates return to training; status of Haksabanovic
Prior to Sunday’s trip to Ibrox, injured Celtic teammates Hyeongyu Oh and Yuki Kobayashi have resumed their training.
The team led by Brendan Rodgers is hard at work getting ready for the first season-opening derby against our fierce rivals.
It’s been a tricky few weeks for the Celtic first-team squad with a dire cup exit at Kilmarnock followed up by a frustrating goalless draw at home to St. Johnstone on Saturday.
Some of our recent struggles could probably be attributed to a disastrous run of injuries ruling out the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Reo Hatate for weeks or longer.
Oh and Kobayashi have also been on the sidelines in recent times. The former hasn’t been seen since the pre-season win over Athletic Club with Rodgers ruling him out for up to six weeks shortly after that match.
As he could be clearly seen during Wednesday’s practise on Celtic TV’s Lennoxtown Unfiltered, the South Korean appears to have recovered quickly.
Meanwhile, Kobayashi hasn’t played since the exhibition match against Yokohama F. Marinos in July. A half-hour into that match in his native country, the defender awkwardly fell and injured his ankle.
He wasn’t supposed to return to training until the international break, but it appears that he has also returned to fitness earlier than anticipated.
Many Celtic supporters would have been thinking about Sead Haksabanovic’s scathing Instagram post this week because it was the weekend’s big off-field drama.
Who knows whether he will remain at the club. He is undoubtedly still involved in training as the derby approaches, as shown by the Unfiltered footage, which picked him up several times.
For the record, neither Reo Hatate nor Cameron Carter-Vickers nor Maik Nawrocki were to be found.
