In the waning minutes of Deadline Day, Birmingham City announced the surprise signing of a former West Brom player. The attacker Oliver Burke will join Birmingham City on a season-long loan from Bundesliga team Werder Bremen.
Burke, a former player for West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United, has signed a temporary contract with St Andrew’s, giving John Eustace another attacking option at the eleventh hour.
The Scotsman, who scored twice in 17 games while on loan at Millwall last season, joins Blues as the team’s 13th and final addition.
The 26-year-old, who is a bit of a journeyman to put it mildly, has played for eight different clubs at the senior level over the past seven seasons. In 233 games, he has amassed 26 goals and 20 assists.
“I’m glad to be here at last. Even if it is obviously late in the window and pleasant, I’m glad I got it finished. The day was exhausting, but it was all worthwhile in the end, Burke told Blues TV.
