Tyler Morton, whose debut at Blackburn was cut short by injury, has left Liverpool for a second loan stint and is now back in the Championship.
Morton played the 2022–23 season on loan with Blackburn, however in April, a fractured foot derailed his progress after 46 games for Rovers.
By the end of August, the 20-year-old was back in full training with Liverpool, and another short-term move was made on deadline day.
This time, Morton has moved to Hull on a season-long contract without a buy option.
Although this summer’s rebuild has highlighted the challenge in breaking through, Morton remains in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans despite signing a new long-term contract at Anfield in January.
Morton’s minutes would be constrained because of his current position in the pecking order, which includes Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago, Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Stefan Bajcetic, and new acquisition Ryan Gravenberch.
The midfielder will have a chance to get regular starts when he joins the Tigers, who are now ninth in the Championship heading into this weekend’s games.
Liam Rosenior, a former defender for Hull, is in charge of the team. This summer, Hull also added nine new players, including Ruben Vinagre, an ex-Everton loanee.
Morton can play in both deep and advanced midfield positions, but he mostly played as a No. 6 for Blackburn.
In the years 2021–2022, he made nine appearances for Liverpool’s first team, starting matches against Porto, AC Milan, and Tottenham in the Champions League and the Premier League, respectively.
It is hoped that he can continue to improve with Hull before coming back to take part in Klopp’s preseason camp next summer.
