The 29-year-old is set to leave the Championship strugglers as they look to bolster their midfield. His departure would free up space on the wage bill for a replacement to be secured. Derby County, along with several League One clubs are understood to be interested in securing the midfielder’s signature
Speaking ahead of the trip to face Ian Evatt’s side, assistant head coach Richie Barker said: “We are hoping he (Sibley) will start training after the game against Bolton
We are hoping to get him back on the training ground next week. It is not as bad as we thought.
“It was more of a bit of a discomfort in his groin really. He clearly wasn’t going to play any part in the Peterborough game because he felt it on the Friday
“Then you think is it worth it trying to get something out of him with the view to the fact that we don’t play for two weeks.
“It’s not worth the risk really.”
On Barkhuizen, who has had a calf problem, Barker added: “He is back and with us every day. He will be coming with us at the weekend.
“There is a chance he could be involved at some point. Again, we want to build up his minutes. But again he is somebody we have to ease back in.”
For the trip to Bolton, Derby will definitely be without Max Bird (ankle), Joe Ward (heel) and Kane Wilson (hamstring).
All three are not expected to return for at least another five weeks.
