The Scottish champions have not made their usual blistering start to the season and looked short in their 0-0 home draw against St. Johnstone at the weekend.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in a number of players before the window closes on Friday night
The Celtic boss wants more attacking reinforcements as his side have looked lacklustre upfront at the start of the season.
And according to Greek outlet Sportime, the Glasgow giants are on the verge of signing Palma from Aris Salonika
Celtic have been in talks with Aris over getting a deal done to take the forward to Parkhead this summer.
A deal is close to getting agreed upon between the two sides and he is expected to be in Scotland soon
The deal is on its way to completion and Celtic are expected to announce his arrival in the next 24 to 48 hours
REAL NEXT:
Swiss midfielder Fabian Rieder was heavily linked with Celtic earlier in the transfer window.
But as Brendan Rodgers continues his search for a new playmaker, the Young Boys playmaker won’t be the man to fill the void. The Hoops are preparing for a frantic week ahead of Friday’s deadline with up to FIVE new players on the radar
And while highly-rated Rieder was the player on every Celtic fan’s lips at one stage, the 21-year-old was never a realistic option for the Scottish champions. L’Equipe reports that Young Boys have slapped a £17.1million price tag on their biggest asset, with Ligue 1 outfit Rennes in advanced discussions over a big-money move.
Rieder would have fit the bill as a ‘marquee signing’ for the Treble-winners and although Celtic have millions in the bank, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely that the Glasgow giants will shatter their transfer record this summer
The Parkhead club are poised to confirm the £3.5m capture of Aris winger Luis Palma over the next 48 hours, with the Honduras international set to arrive in Glasgow tomorrow.
Celts are also in the market for another attacking player, with out-of-favour Wolves wide man Daniel Podence a possible option. Rodgers is also targeting another central defender, left-back and midfielder, with a number of fringe players expected to depart over the coming days too
REAL MORE:
Celtic youngsters Tobi Oluwayemi and Matthew Anderson have joined Admira Wacker on season-long loans.
The Hoops youngsters have been regulars for the B team but will now gain crucial first-team experience in Austria’s second tier. Celtic recently formed a partnership with Admira Wacker which allows player development and loan deals between both clubs. The nine-time Austrian champions were relegated from the top-flight last summer after falling on tough times and more players from Parkhead could link up with the club
England Under-20 keeper Oluwayemi is highly-rated by Celtic coaching staff and recently returned from a brief loan stint with Cork City. Meanwhile, 19-year-old left-back Anderson has been tipped for a bright future at Parkhead and captained the club’s B team last season.
Admira Wacker sports director Peter Stöger said: “We’re proud that a prestigious club like Celtic entrusts us with these players to help them develop. It shows that we are on the right track with our philosophy.
These are two young and very exciting guys. The two have already gained experience in various British youth national teams and will definitely help us further.”
The moves are expected to spark a frantic final week of transfer activity at Celtic, with up to FIVE players expected to join the Scottish champions. Luis Palma is currently in London undergoing medical examinations and is expected to fly to Glasgow tomorrow to complete his £3.5million move from Aris
Brendan Rodgers is also in the market for another couple of attackers, plus a new left-back, central defender and midfielder. The Celtic boss is equally clean to remove some deadwood from his bloated squad, with the likes of Sead Haksabanovic, James McCarthy, Ismaila Soro and Albian Ajeti all free to leave
