Reading FC boss ‘very happy’ as Reading cruise to win
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan netted in each half to earn a second successive win for the Royals after Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Cheltenham Town.
Here is immediate reaction from Selles.
Selles on the win
We know we have a clear idea of how we want to play the game. The opponent was a really good team with a perfect start to the season and we knew we needed to match their physicality. We tried to use our strengths. The boys understood their roles in the unit, and we are very happy with the performance and the three points.
Selles on dealing with Stevenage physicality
It’s a challenge. Last game it was a similar approach from the opponent. We need to get used to that. The team selection is according to that and according to what the opponent can propose and how we match their abilities. The players on the pitch, the players who didn’t come on the pitch and the players supporting the team did a good job and we were able to put our football stamp on the game.
Selles on Ehibhatiomhan performance
He’s in line with the team, no better or worse. He scores goals because we create those situations for him. He’s able to score goals because we demand a lot from the striker position in pressure, counterpressure and situations we have. He’s better understanding the role and we are happy that we can put him in those positions to score goals because it’s how we win games. It is not only him. He will get praise for scoring goals but also, he helped keep the zero [clean sheet], keep the high pressure and keep them in their own half. Everyone has their own part to play in our unit.
Selles on Lewis Wing absenc
During the last game, he had an episode in one part of his quad. He carried on playing but when he finished the scan showed he will be out for the next couple of games.
