‘Very disappointed’: Gary O’Neil describes what let Wolves down against Brighton……
Wolves made their Molineux bow for the season today as Brighton came north in game week two.
An early second half treble ultimately left Wolves hopeless in the game, with the Seagulls bagging three in the first ten minutes of the second half.
Despite the poor defensive switch-offs, Wolves created a tonne of chances which resulted in four big chances for Old Gold.
Of these four, zero were scored with Hee-Chan Hwang’s strike being more of a fluke than a chance.
To show how terrible this was, Brighton only had five big chances, scoring four which tells us that if Wolves were that clinical a draw could’ve been salvaged in-front of Fosun.
Gary O’Neil spoke post-game about the result and revealed what he thinks cost Wolves dearly.

O’Neil left disappointed
Speaking in his post game press conference, as reported by Express and Star’s Nathan Judah, O’Neil explained what went wrong.
“It wasn’t worlds apart from Monday night, people will say that, but we just haven’t taken our chances – obviously very disappointed.”
He concluded by highlighting a stat which gives him confidence for the future, as he says: “38 shots gives us something to build on.”
O’Neil is right as The xG Philosophy on Twitter reveal, with Wolves scoring 2.28 xG compared to Brighton’s fractionally better 2.38xG.
What next for Wolves
Next up for Wolves, they head to Goodison Park to take-on Sean Dyche’s winless Everton in what is a huge game for both.
Given the poor start, both managers and clubs need to pick up a win, and who better to get it against that a direct rival for survival.
Wolves look like a team who could be a few tweaks from getting it right, and we are banking on a massive three points coming against the Toffees.
If we don’t win there, then it could be time for panic stations, a must win tie, we look forward to it.
