Burnley are on the verge of signing longstanding West Ham midfield target Sander Berge for just £12m it has been claimed.

Giant Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge always seemed destined to sign for West Ham.

And now he could end up wearing claret and blue in the Premier League – but for Burnley instead of the Hammers.

West Ham tried to sign Berge back in January 2020 but he ended up at rivals Sheffield United instead.

Despite that, West Ham have been linked with the 6ft 5in 25-year-old in just about every transfer window since.

And that includes this summer transfer window too, as Hammers fans following the rumour mill will testify.

Last month journalist Dean Jones told Give Me Sport that Blades midfielder Berge was back on the radar of West Ham boss David Moyes.

He claimed Sheffield United, who are dealing with financial problems, would be willing to accept around £10m.

Jones called it right that Berge would be on the move, but he’ll be donning the claret and blue of Burnley rather than the Hammers it seems.

Because now Burnley are on the verge of signing longstanding West Ham midfield target Berge for just £12m.

That’s according to an exclusive from journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon site.

“The fast-moving transfer, first revealed here, looks on as the Clarets offer is built of a guaranteed sum and extras that should make the Blades sell,” Nixon statesLiverpool register interest in signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge

“Berge is in the last year of his deal and cannot agree an extension. He will probably pick up around £40,000-a-week at Turf Moor.

“(Sheffield) United are unhappy that Berge won’t sign with them and are keen to make money on him now.”

As Burnley close in on a deal for the long-linked Moyes target, West Ham are near to finalising a £33m move for Mexico star Edson Alvarez – as reported in detail on Hammers News first thing this morning.
