Tottenham transfer news: Spurs are set to officially announce the signing of Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz in the coming week
Ange Postecoglou is on the verge of welcoming two new bodies to his Tottenham squad ahead of the Premier League opener against Brentford. Spurs have thus far made four permanent signings this summer by welcoming Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Ashley Phillips along with Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro having their loan moves made permanent.
Spurs have been chasing a marquee defensive addition for the bulk of the summer and were finally able to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg for Micky van de Ven. A package deal has been agreed worth €50million (£43million) with Van de Ven flying to London over the weekend which allowed him to be present for Spurs’ 5-1 victory against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Netherlands international then completed a medical on Monday with another new signing present at Hotspur Way. The north Londoners are also set to welcome Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central, in a deal worth £13million, imminently after he was spotted at an airport in Argentina on Sunday.
The teenager spoke to journalists in his home country before travelling to England where he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano: “I will say goodbye to the fans with formal message. I just wait to sign my contract with Spurs, it’s imminent.”
Veliz also dropped a major Giovani Lo Celso Tottenham exit hint. He added: “I spoke with Gio Lo Celso and he told me that I will have his support.” With much of the focus on Van de Ven, there has been less excitement about the Argentine international, but it must be noted that Spurs are signing one of the most exciting young talents in world football.
Those signings are now set to be officially confirmed this week with both deals completed, according to Italian journalist Romano. Despite the double arrival, more transfers are likely to still occur at Spurs with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg strongly linked to a move to Atletico Madrid and the future of Harry Kane still up for debate.

However, Tottenham have turned down the latest bid from Bayern Munich for Kane, football.london understands. Kane netted four goals in the pre-season clash against Shakhtar with it understood the 30-year-old will choose to remain at the club if he is not sold before the fixture against Brentford this weekend.
