LEEDS TRASFER: Leeds United to join Aston Villa as transfer approach made.

Leeds transfer news: Major triple exit nears as attacker prepares to join UCL side in unbelievable upwards fall

We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park…

Alan Hutton would like to see Aston Villa sign Tyler Adams before the transfer window closes – even if the exit-linked Leeds United ace wouldn’t be a regular starter.

Adams, 24, was one of Leeds’ stand-out performers last season as they were relegated from the Premier League with the Yorkshire club winning just two of the 14 league matches he missed due to injury.

He also impressed for the USA at the World Cup in Qatar.

Adams has since been linked with a move away from Elland Road due to a £25million release clause becoming active in his contract [Daily Mail].

On 3 August, the Mail reported that Villa have made an approach to sign the former RB Leipzig midfielder but are awaiting a response because he’s also attracting interest from Chelsea.

Hutton likes Adams but due to Unai Emery’s current midfield depth, he doesn’t see the American is anything more than a squad option for Aston Villa.

“For that price, he’d be a good addition but I don’t think he’d come in and start every week,” Hutton told Villa News.

Kamara, Luiz, McGinn and Tielemans give them options there so I don’t think Adams would come in and be a regular starter.

Of course, I think he’d want to move. With Leeds being relegated, he’d want to join a team who’s pushing in the right direction. [The Europa Conference League] will be something he’ll want to be involved in but I think he would know that he’d have to fight to be in the starting line-up.

He’s not going to be one of those who’ll sign and be a regular starter so as long as he’s up for the fight and willing to improve, listen to the manager and get better, he could be a decent option.”

Adams played 24 times in the Premier League last season for Leeds and stats by WhoScored show that out of Premier League players with more than 10 appearances last season, only Fulham’s Joao Palhinha [4.2] made more tackles per game than Adams [3.7].
