Aston Villa are ready to modify their attack further this summer as they keep dreaming of the addition of Ferran Torres, potentially at the expense of an existing squad member.

Recently, Aston Villa broke their transfer record to add a Diaby Moussto their attack. However, he may not be the only forward to arrive at Villa Park this summer. Indeed, reports in Spain continue to link them with Torres.

Back in May, there was plenty of speculation about Aston Villa trying to sign Torres. It all seemed to stem from their plans to appoint Mateu Alemany as a transfer chief.

Alemany ultimately had second thoughts about joining Aston Villa and things went quiet on the Torres front. Now, Monchi is in charge of their transfers instead.

Nevertheless, Diario Sport has been suggesting that they are still working on the transfer for Torres after all.

It is claimed that Unai Emery ‘continues to push’ for the signing of the former Man City attacker. They believe they are in a better position now to make a serious attempt for Torres than when they originally tried earlier in the summer.

The deal remains challenging because they have not yet reached Barcelona’s asking price nor managed to convince Torres to turn his back on Xavi.Barcelona set stunning Ferran Torres release clause as transfer from Man City confirmed - Manchester Evening News

However, Aston Villa seem intent on keeping up the pressure in their pursuit of Torres.

While offering him a route back into the Premier League, they could make the ex-Valencia star one of the focal points of their project.

Aston Villa ready to sell Bailey

After Sport‘s update about Torres, Football Insider has separately revealed that Aston Villa are open to offers for Leon Bailey this summer.

Bailey has become a target for Al Nassr, who could make him one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates in Saudi Arabia. And in order to sanction a departure, Football Insider claims Aston Villa are asking for a fee in the region of £20m.

Al Nassr would be able to meet the asking price and offer Bailey himself a lucrative contract. There are still two years remaining on his deal at Villa Park, but Emery is not classing him as a regular starter ahead of the upcoming season

Therefore, Bailey may have to await an official approach by Al Nassr, unless he has any other suitors too.

The 23-year-old Torres, in contrast, has 14 goals to his name from 71 appearances since joining Barcelona – and is arguably slightly more versatile than Bailey.

Another potential replacement for Bailey that Football Insider has recently suggested is Adama Traore, who could earn a second spell at Aston Villa if they decide to sign him on a free transfer after his Wolves contract came to an end.
