Premier League side Everton remain confident of securing the services of Wilfried Gnonto this summer.
According to an exclusive report by Football Insider, Leeds United are set to come to an agreement with Everton for the sale of Wilfried Gnonto in the next few days.
The Toffees are expected to send a bid of around £20 million soon and the amount will help The Whites make a profit as they attempt to balance their finances before investing in the market.
The 19-year-old is well respected despite his age in his home country but only Serie A side Napoli expressed a definite interest to sign him. However, the Partenopei need to raise money before embarking on signing a new player. This situation currently leaves Everton as the front-runner in the race to land Gnonto.
Coming on the back of recent relegation from the Premier League, Leeds United have a massive financial problem on their head as they could offload some of their players only on loan. Permanent sales are required to raise funds and balance the accounts.
Wilfried Gnonto joined the club in 2022 from FC Zurich for a fee of just under £4 million. A potential £20 million sale would mean a direct profit on the investment made as the player is increasing his worth day by day. Everton manager Sean Dyche hopes to see the young forward add versatility and effectiveness to his team’s attack for the new season.
