The 24-year-old goalkeeper, who played a significant role in Bournemouth’s promotion campaign two years ago, will now return to the Championship with Stoke City.

The Irish stopper, standing at 6ft 3in, has made 45 appearances for Bournemouth, winning the Cherries’ player of the season award during their promotion campaign.

He has also represented the Republic of Ireland on three occasions at the senior international level

Speaking on the new signing, the Club’s Technical Director Ricky Martin expressed delight at the addition to the Potters’ squad.

“For a goalkeeper of his age to have already achieved what he has in the game is rare and remarkable,” Martin stated.

“He has featured in international football, played in the Premier League and – perhaps most importantly – was a standout performer when Bournemouth got promoted a couple of seasons ago.”

Martin added, “There was of course a keen interest in Mark from other clubs, so we’re delighted that he’s chosen to come to Stoke City.”

Travers made his Premier League debut in May 2019, helping Bournemouth record a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. To date, he has made 15 appearances in the top-flight.

Excited for his new journey with Stoke City, Travers said, “This is a great opportunity to test myself in the Championship again and I am pleased to have had the interest from Stoke City.”

He further highlighted the appealing prospects at the Club, including working under the manager and the opportunity to play alongside new signings.

He added, “I have heard good things about the Club from players here now – including Ben Pearson and Enda Stevens – and others who have played here before. I feel like this is an exciting project and the next step in my career. The season is only just around the corner and I cannot wait to get going
