Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town has been connected to Brighton’s managerial opening.
The 38-year-old has received a great deal of recognition for his efforts with the Suffolk team, leading them to consecutive promotions from League One to the Premier League.
Ed Aarons says the Seagulls would probably try to entice the Northern Irishman with a move to Amex Stadium.
Last weekend, Roberto de Zerbi made his exit from the Premier League team official, which fueled more rumours over McKenna’s future at Portman Road.
After finishing second in their first year back in the Championship, Ipswich is gearing up for their first top flight campaign since 2002.
According to Carlton Palmer, McKenna will only contemplate leaving the Tractor Boys if it means joining one of the best teams in the nation, like Manchester United or Liverpool.
With the support he has from the Ipswich owners, he thinks that moving to Brighton won’t tempt McKenna.
Palmer of Football League World said, “It’s believed Brighton are set to make an approach to Ipswich Town for Kieran McKenna to replace the departing de Zerbi.”
“With all due respect, as I’ve stated previously, I don’t see Kieran McKenna moving from Ipswich Town to Brighton.
“Kieran McKenna has performed admirably; he has received back-to-back promotions, is a Premier League player, and his affluent owners have supported and encouraged him.”
“I believe they will stick with him and support him, so I don’t think he’s going to go unless he gets a really good job, and it looks like the Liverpool position is gone now.
