After the 2023 season, the Virginia Tech football team had significant retention on both sides of the ball. Josh Fuga and Antwaun Powell-Ryland declared their intentions to return to the defensive line. Despite this, head coach Brent Pry continued to add depth to the roster through the transfer portal by adding Aeneas Peebles, a transfer from Duke, Kemari Copeland from Iowa Western Community College, and Kelvin Gilliam, a transfer from Oklahoma.

Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry commits to Virginia Tech op Tuesday night.Tuesday night, Pry received a huge commitment from a transfer from Alabama, giving the defensive line one of the deepest in the ACC and giving opponents another option to game plan for next season.

Khurtiss Perry, a transfer from Alabama, visited Virginia Tech recently, and it seems they impressed him because, according to Pete Thamel, he committed to the Hokies on Tuesday night. This adds another quality defensive lineman to Pry and his staff’s defensive unit. Perry passed on Louisville, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech.

Perry was regarded as a four-star talent coming out of high school and was ranked as the 54th overall prospect in the Class of 2022 by 247Sports. This is 247Sports’ assessment of him upon his graduation from high school.

Pry added linebacker Sam Brumfield from Middle Tennessee State and offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham from Georgia State in addition to the athletes already named. Quarterback Collin Schlee from UCLA committed to Virginia Tech last month after Dylan Wittke committed to Minnesota for the 2024 campaign through the spring transfer portal.
