SAD BREAKOUT: Steelers WR rejects signing as he betrays club to sign with club woes…

Rookies used to have to wait for their opportunity to see the pitch. in particular, rookies selected after the first round. Because they don’t always get along with the quarterback, teams will sometimes bring their rookie pass-catchers along more slowly than other position players. The Steelers—well, less so. Over the last several years, rookie receivers have significantly impacted the black-and-gold’s offence.

Many are curious about Roman Wilson’s immediate effect after the team selects him as a wide receiver in the third round of the NFL Draft. It may, however, be larger than you anticipate.

The following list includes recent draft picks as wide receivers along with their rookie season stats:

Like a maniac, I sat there and attempted to do the math. The responses from anyone (who took this seriously) came out to roughly an average of a little under 50 catches. That would be fewer than any of the players listed above. Even assuming management decides to add an established wideout, I think Wilson still gets closer to that 70-catch mark. He’s an exceptional route runner with above-average blocking skills who should see himself on the field for the majority of snaps.

I also tend to think that the Steelers have more faith in him due to their lack of urgency in acquiring a “number two” receiver. Given their history of success with receivers drafted outside of the first round and Wilson’s skillset — maybe it’s hard to blame them.

Now it’s time for you to answer. What kind of production do you expect from Roman Wilson in year one?

Round two: JuJu Smith-Schuster, 2017: 58 receptions, 917 yards, 7 touchdowns
2019: Round three: Diontae Johnson 59 receptions, 680 yards, 5 touchdowns
2020: Chase Claypool (872 yds, 9 TDs), 62 receptions, round two
George Pickens (second round): 52 receptions, 801 yards, 4 touchdowns (2022)
Naturally, each of these figures is the result of several causes. To start with, every player is unique. There will be differences in the offensive coaches as well, therefore the schemes will also alter. I understand.

However, it’s undeniable that this team under Mike Tomlin has excelled in that area, especially in light of Chase Claypool’s passing and the selective exclusion of James Washington, a 2018 second-round choice.

While Ben Roethlisberger was on his way, most of those men had other quarterbacks.
