Trent Brown was only signed by the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason, and he hasn’t even played a snap for the team. However, after the 2024 NFL Draft, is he already in risk of losing his starting position? At least according to Bleacher Report, he might be.
Brown made the cut out of eight starters that B/R listed as potentially vulnerable after the draft. This is the reasoning
Additionally, Brown, 31, signed a one-year contract indicating that the Bengals never saw him as a long-term solution on the offensive line. And who knows? Perhaps this season, when Mims adjusts to playing in the big leagues, he will wind up starting for Cincinnati.
Maybe Mims could even look up to Brown as a kind of mentor. Brown had, after all, had a lengthy, fruitful NFL career that included a Super Bowl victory and a nomination to the Pro Bowl. Even if he does end up losing his starting role, his experience makes him a key veteran asset to the team.
Brown shouldn’t be too surprised that the Bengals used their first-round pick to choose offensive tackle Amarius Mims. The writing was on the wall as soon as that pick was made.
