After the draft, the Bengals might require some veteran depth at cornerback. One prior first-round selection would work well here.

A lot of talent was added by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2024 NFL Draft. Amarius Mims, an offensive tackle taken with the 18th overall pick, was one of the team’s ten selections. Next season, all those first-year players will be clamoring for a chance to play. Of course, not everyone will grasp it, but some will for sure.

However, some experienced players may be less ticked off if rookies get more playing time. Although some players find it difficult to accept, it is the reality of life in the NFL. Having said that, let’s take a look at three former Bengals players whose employment are in jeopardy as a result of the ’24 draft.

Trenton Irwin Entering his sixth season with the Bengals, wide receiver Trenton Irwin has been the team’s spot starter in recent years. He made two starts in Cincinnati’s 2022 season and five in the team’s 2023 campaign. When Jermaine Burton is added in 2024, that number might significantly decline.

The Bengals will have Tee Higgins and Ja’marr Chase occupying the top two receiver spots if they don’t move him before the season begins, which currently appears to be the most likely scenario. However, Burton is an intriguing option because of his speed and athleticism, and there might be some serious competition for the No. 3 spot. He has a good possibility of starting the Cincinnati Bengals season as a wide receiver and pushing aside Irwin if he has an outstanding camp.
