Wide receiver Xavier Worthy is so highly regarded by the Kansas City Chiefs that they traded up four spots to get him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
It turns out that the two-time defending Super Bowl winners would have traded up even higher in the first round to choose Worthy if they had had the chance.
“We were just waiting for Worthy to arrive. Following Round 3 of the Draft, Mike Borgonzi, the assistant general manager of the Chiefs, stated, “We tried to trade up earlier for him in the 20s and ended up getting him a little bit later.”
The Chiefs brass clearly likes Worthy, as seen by their desire to trade up even more than they already did. It would be nice to know how much higher Kansas City was willing to trade up to acquire Worthy.
“He’s tough, but he’s not the biggest guy.” He is not only a man of verticality. He’s got the route tree down. On April 26, Borgonzi remarked of Worthy, “He can get in and out of his breaks with the intermediate routes.” He is a serious threat—not a one-trick pony. He seems to be able to align himself in a variety of ways for us.
In addition to being intelligent, he has punt return value, which will be very important to us.

After the NFL Draft’s first round, Worthy gave a press conference and declared his intention to show everyone that he is more than simply a quick player.
“I’m coming with the mentality to work hard and earn my spot in the locker room,” Worthy said during his press conference on April 25. “I feel like I’m a complete receiver. I can run the whole route tree, disciplined, smart, and know the game really well, so I feel like I bring a complete receiver to Kansas City.”
Worthy, who broke the NFL Scouting Combine record by running a 4.21-second 40-yard dash, embraces the fact that he’s an undersized playmaker who can be effective on offense and special teams.
“I’m a small player, so I pride myself on being a difference maker and somebody who’s going to make a play,” Worthy said. “Whether that’s being tough, making a big play blocking or receiving the ball or special teams, anything. So, I just pride myself on heart, and I feel like that’s what motivates me and makes me different.”

Xavier Worthy’s Development Plan is Described by Andy Reid Chiefs head coach Andy Reid talked about Worthy and how he believes the rookie will be used in Kansas City.
“We’re happy to have him on board,” Reid stated at the press conference following the first day of the Draft. “He is, in our opinion, the best football player around. He engages in several activities. He’s a capable wide receiver who can also return kicks for special teams, and he’ll do both to start.
“When he joins the wide receiver rotation with Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, Travis Kelce, and the other guys, he’ll just fit in.” Pat should be able to utilise another weapon there as a result.
