Deshaun Watson, the quarterback, is anticipated to be ready for the Browns’ season opener.

Ohio’s BEREA (AP) — Although Deshaun Watson’s recovery from surgery on his right shoulder is proceeding cautiously, the Cleveland Browns anticipate that their quarterback will be prepared for the start of the season.

General manager Andrew Berry stated, “We feel really good about it,” on Thursday during his yearly pre-draft news conference. I won’t be making any predictions because you can never be sure. However, that is exactly what we anticipate.

Watson’s throwing shoulder glenoid bone fractured, ending his second season with Cleveland after just six starts.

Since the Browns signed the 28-year-old Watson to a fully guaranteed $230 million contract in 2022 and acquired him in a trade with Houston, Watson has appeared in 12 games.

“But since we’re still in the midst of the rehabilitation process, we know that things could go in different directions, but based on what we’ve seen so far, we’re fairly optimistic.”

Watson stated he hasn’t decided whether or not to take part in OTAs the following month. He also hinted that there’s a possibility he won’t participate in the preseason.
