SAD NEWS: Steelers sack players, ridding some negative plays

There might be a quarterbacking issue for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh Steelers completely redesigned their quarterback room this offseason, dealing Kenny Pickett, letting go of Mitch Trubisky, and allowing Mason Rudolph walk in addition to adding Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Kyle Allen.

However, not everyone is extremely optimistic that it will succeed. There are several issues with the Steelers’ new quarterback room, despite the stated improvements. One was brought up by ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, who said that Pittsburgh could be in problems because their quarterbacks are getting into difficulties when they are sacking opponents.

“Who will accept the less absurd sacks? Russell Wilson has collected one hundred sacks over the last two seasons. 99 has been taken by Justin Fields “On ESPN, Orlovsky stated. “In the NFL, no other quarterback has taken more than 80 passes. So who could extract it, even slightly, from their game? Given that Justin is younger, I would be more likely to agree.”

Orlovsky questioned if the Steelers have a quarterback capable of creating more good than bad, and if they can get rid of some negative plays that guys like Pickett and Trubisky created as starters.

“And which one of these two guys gets rid of the negative plays? Negative plays are sacks, fumbles and interceptions,” Orlovsky said. “Here’s another one: Justin Fields in the last two seasons has 145 negative plays. Russell Wilson has 135. No other quarterback in the NFL has a buck 15 (115). So you’re intrigued, you’re encouraged, but which one of those guys gets rid of those fatal flaws of their game more constantly?”

Joe Dolan was able to criticise the Steelers quarterbacks and address the subject on the Ross Tucker Podcast after Orlovsky’s remarks.

“I think the Steelers could clone Dermontti Dawson, Mike Webster, Alan Faneca and Tunch Ilkin, and still give up 60 sacks next year, because Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are the two biggest sack eaters in the NFL,” Dolan stated.

Wilson is now anticipated to make his debut in 2024. He finished the season with 26 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Fields will have a chance to play, but Pittsburgh could want to wait to see what he can do for a season after seeing his 10-28 record as a starter.
