According to Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U, Marshall cornerback Dyoni Hill’s transfer portal registration is “potentially notable” for the Miami football programme. Miami needs to add depth at cornerback to their 2024 squad. Hill saw limited action in his first two seasons with Marshall before having a breakthrough year in 2023.

Hill had 55 tackles in 2023, one interception, one tackle for loss, ten passes defensed, and one forced fumble. Hill spent two seasons as Marshall’s player under Lance Guidry, the defensive coordinator for Miami. In the 2024 offseason, Miami signed Elijah Alston, a former edge rusher for Marshall, as a transfer.

In the 2021 class, Hill ranked 1,606th overall, 142nd among CBs, and 211st among players in Gainesville, Florida. Hill was only recruited by Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Ball State, and Western Kentucky after graduating from high school. Hill may be the quintessential illustration of a player who has outperformed expectations.

At 6’0,” Hill would provide the Miami football programme a respectable amount of length at CB. Darryl Porter Jr., a 5’10” CB, is Miami’s finest returning player. Damari Brown, who is 6′ 2 and gives Miami more length, is also returning to Miami. Brown is anticipated to start. Standing 6’2,” Jaidas Richard is expected to be an important member of the CB rotation.

Chevis Jackson, the defensive backs coach for New Miami, coached Hill during his final two seasons at Marshall. Hill was signed before Guidry started his rookie season with the Thundering Hurd, and he was ahead of Jackson at Marshall. In 2023, Hill was a starter wide receiver for Marshall; by 2024, he would give Miami the experience it needed at the position.

With one full season as a starter, Porter is the sole cornerback on the Miami roster. When Brown started the final three games of the 2023 season, he performed admirably. The timeframe for the spring transfer portal is open from April 16 to 30. After April 30, players can still choose which programmes to play for in the future.
