After the season, Aston Villa intends to make Douglas Luiz an offer for a lucrative contract, according to Football Insider. The 25-year-old target for Arsenal has been connected to a move away from the team, but Unai Emery’s team intends to hold onto him—especially if they make it to the Champions League.

Douglas Luiz’s contract negotiations will begin at Aston Villa.
The summer transfer window should see Aston Villa’s top priority being the extension of Douglas Luiz’s contract. Under Unai Emery, the Brazilian international has shown his worth and is a key player. Arsenal is reportedly mulling a summer move for the midfield player, who has been linked to a transfer elsewhere.

The 25-year-old target for Arsenal is not eager to commit to a new contract. He wants to wait until the conclusion of the season to see how things work out. When the summer transfer market opens, he will be aware of the numerous clubs vying for his signature, but for the time being, he is keeping his options open.

It is hoped that Aston Villa would extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2026. Because of this, there’s a rush to get everything in shape because the club may be able to cash in on the next window and give Luiz the chance to pursue his career somewhere with fresh challenges.

Manchester City is eager to re-sign their former star, in addition to Arsenal, where manager Mikel Arteta holds the 25-year-old midfielder in high regard. It might cost a lot of money for either club to pique Aston Villa’s attention. The midfield player may continue at the team for a very long period if the club and he agree to a new, high-paying contract, but there are stipulations.

Luiz’s stay depends on qualifying for the Champions League
If Aston Villa makes it to the Champions League the following season, Luiz may sign a new contract. The 25-year-old target for Arsenal believes that competing in the competition is essential, and he hopes to do so. Next season, The Gunners, Manchester City, and even Barcelona are all set to participate in it.

Villa got back on track and, coincidentally, triumphed over Arsenal at the Emirates to get back into the top four. Luiz was suspended and missed the match. If they qualify for the elite European competition, the midfield player might be willing to play under Emery again. Given his present level of interest in the market, failing to do so might lead to the midfielder seeking a new challenge.
