Even Donovan Mitchell, a well-known supporter of the New York Mets who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, had to give credit to the New York Yankees after watching their lineup.
“As a Mets fan, this pains me to say lol, but the Yankees lineup 1-5 is outrageous!” Mitchell posted on social media.
It’s unlikely that Mitchell will abandon the Yankees anytime soon, even with their grudging regard.
Donovan Mitchell Sr., his father, is the director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Mets. Since 1992, Mitchell Sr. has played professional baseball. Before joining the Mets organisation as a Minor League manager and coach, he began his career as a player in the minor league ranks with the Astros.
When Mitchell Jr. was employed by the Mets Minor League organisation, he spent a great deal of time with his father. Junior was constantly in the clubhouse making friends with guys like Josh Thole and Scott Kazmir while Dad was busy getting ready for the game. Junior even served as a bat boy for the Rookie League team of the organisation at the time, the Kingsport Mets.
Mitchell obviously enjoys baseball and follows the game closely. He’s also right that the Yankees’ starting lineup is very different this year.
The top five hitters in the Yankees’ lineup are Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, Anthony Volpe, and Juan Soto. The team has swept and is now 12-3.

The Mets have won four of their last five games, signalling that they are starting to turn things around after a very sluggish start to the season.
Francisco Lindor has had a terrible start to the season and has not improved. Owner of the team Steve Cohen proposed that supporters give Lindor a standing ovation to let him feel the love from the crowd because it’s obvious that it’s been weighing on him.NEW YORK METS NEWS
“I didn’t anticipate that at all. It felt good, though. Being able to return home and experience the support of my supporters regardless of how well or poorly I perform makes me feel wonderful. Yes, it fills my heart. Ultimately, I will always be Francisco Lindor, whether things are going well or not. And every day, I’ll give it my all on the pitch and do all it takes to support this squad in winning. I want to thank everyone who attended for their love. It is not overlooked. I do better when my heart is in it.
