Speaking on his podcast, he indicated that there should be no argument between Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye right now, and that the Commanders should not hesitate to sign the LSU product.

While he recognises that both guys are athletic and enjoy throwing the football down the field, Daniels has some significant advantages over Maye at this time.

That’s why Robert Gryphon III, who happened to be that last player, has strong feelings about who they should take with the No. 2 pick.

Speaking on his podcast, he indicated that there should be no argument between Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye right now, and that the Commanders should not hesitate to sign the LSU product.

While he admits that both guys are athletic and enjoy throwing the football down the field, Daniels has some significant advantages over Maye at this stage.

He believes his pre- and post-snap processing is superior to anyone else’s in college football, and he was the most explosive dual-threat player in the game last season.

Gryphon also stated that Daniels possesses perhaps the finest deep ball in this draft class, and that his style of play is more suited to the Commanders.

Maye is also a strong talent, but he appears a little raw.

In addition, the Commanders recruited Kliff Kingsbury as their new offensive coordinator, with Brian Johnson later joining as their pass game coordinator.

Daniels is a better fit for what they normally run on offence, so he’d make a lot more sense for this new squad at No. 2, even if Maye is still a very good player with a high ceiling.
