SAD NEWS: Fiji lost their key player as a result of…..

Sale have announced Fiji captain Waisea Nayacalevu will join them next season.

The Toulon centre will join up with the Manchester-based side after leaving the Top14 club at the end of the season.

Nayacalevu has agreed a one-year deal with the Sharks with the option of a further year.

“I’ve watched the Premiership for a long time and it’s always been in the back of my mind that I would love to play there one day and experience rugby in England,” he told the club website.

Nayacalevu scored a try in Fiji’s famous win at Twickenham prior to the last World Cup, in which he captained his country.

The 33-year-old can play centre or wing and spent 10 years at Stade Francais before switching to Toulon two years ago.

“I have spoken to Telusa Veainu and he only has positive things to say about the club and about Manchester,” Nayacalevu added.

“I’m looking forward to playing with some of the guys I’ve played against, like Tom Curry and George Ford.

“But I also know there are a lot of really talented young players in the Sale Sharks squad and I’m excited to share my experience and help them develop as much as I can.
