WBRC BIRMINGHAM, AL – Following the announcement by Birmingham-Southern College that it will close later this year, colleges and universities throughout Alabama are welcoming students from the school.

Following Birmingham-Southern College’s announcement of its closure, hundreds of students must now find another location to continue their education, but some institutions claim they’re making the process a little simpler.

The University of Montevallo, Miles College, and Auburn University are just a few of the nearby schools and universities that have openly extended their support.

In addition to waiving application and transfer costs, several of these institutions claim to be able to provide prospective scholarship options for any Birmingham-Southern students who decide to enroll.

At least one parent of a BSC kid has expressed relief at the support these other schools have provided.

The parent of a BSC student, Willie Furr, stated, “It’s been encouraging to see that there’s been an outreach to these students, who through no fault of their own, are now faced with this.” “That any college student in the state of Alabama would have to go through this just breaks my heart.”

According to BSC, May 31 is their last day of operation.
