Hundreds attend Easter egg hunt at Gilliard Elementary

WALA, Mobile, Alabama – On the Port City’s Dauphine Island Parkway, the morning was extremely thrilling.

District 3 Mobile City Councilman C.J. Small organized a family-friendly event at Gilliard Elementary School that drew hundreds of children of all ages. A live DJ, food trucks, rides, bouncy houses, drinks, and of course the beloved Easter egg hunt were all featured at the event.

Small told FOX10 News that while the large attendance the event draws each year is not surprising, he is pleased to see the community coming together and having a good time.

“The community to come together to have fun. People haven’t seen each other in a while and to sit down and eat, enjoy each other,” said Small, council president. “The kids, you know, enjoying themselves out on the playground, finding their eggs, playing with different characters and everything. So, it’s like a family environment but I would say it’s a community-family environment.”

This was the 12th year the event has been held. It was also co-sponsored by the Drug Education Council, Franklin Primary Health Center, the Mobile Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Royal XXV.
